Skinkers, communication you can't miss

In June 2006 Skinkers announced the acquisition of collaborative agent technology developed by Microsoft Research to enhance existing product offerings and develop new solutions for real-time event notification, video streaming and high bandwidth content delivery.

A perfect match
Microsoft began looking for innovative technology companies in 2005 to build commercial solutions, based on their research technology. Microsoft has developed an industrial strength peer-to-peer network which overcomes a number of the limitations of current alternatives, including security, monitoring and stability. At the same time, Skinkers was looking for the world’s leading peer-to-peer technology to build the next generation of event notification and content distribution applications. Microsoft and Skinkers are a perfect match.

The first European technology for equity deal
Due to the strong fit between the two technologies, Microsoft has chosen to create a deeper relationship between the two companies. Instead of a simple license agreement, Microsoft has acquired a minority strategic equity stake in Skinkers in exchange for full use of the Microsoft peer-to-peer intellectual property.
