Livestation showcased at Microsoft Innovation Day
4th December: At the Microsoft EU Innovation Day in Brussels, Microsoft and their partners will be presenting the innovative technologies of tomorrow to an audience of top tier EU government officials, leading academics and news media.
Skinkers will be showcasing Livestation: the first open broadcast platform to exploit the Internet for the delivery of live interactive TV to computers.
Built on peer-to-peer technology co-developed with Microsoft Research, Livestation will allow broadcasters to distribute live audio and video to a potential audience of hundreds of millions of broadband connected people at a dramatically reduced cost. Currently in technical trial with leading international broadcasters, Livestation is due to launch in 2008.
Matteo stated, “This ground breaking technology will allow broadcasters to reach a virtually unlimited number of people while at their computers. Livestation is going change the way people access linear television thanks to its ease of use and quality of the experience”.
5th December: At the Microsoft Voices for Innovation Executive Event, London, Matteo will deliver a keynote address and demonstrate Livestation, in a session entitled “Microsoft Emerging Technologies”, introduced by Microsoft’s International President Jean-Philippe Courtois.
Matteo stated, “We are delighted that Microsoft has selected us to showcase Livestation at this prestigious event, as we believe this demonstrates how a close collaboration between Microsoft and innovative software companies such as Skinkers can produce rapid results with significant market impact”.
