The European Commission does its bit for UK technology business
Skinkers, the pioneering communications company, has been awarded a European Information Society Technologies (IST) Prize for groundbreaking products that represent the best of European innovation in Information Society Technologies.
10 September 2004
This prestigious award, that will help Skinkers project itself further into European markets, is made annually by Euro-CASE (European Council of Applied Sciences, Technologies and Engineering) with the support and sponsorship of the IST Programme of the European Commission.
Skinkers has been selected from among 430 companies in 29 countries to be one of this year's twenty European IST Prize Winners. Sixteen independent experts nominated by Euro-CASE, looked for "novel products or services with a high information technology content and evident market potential".
The European Commission made the final selection of winners on 17 September. Nominees and Winners can be seen on www.ist-prize.org.
The twenty Winners each receive € 5,000 and will be invited to showcase their products in the European IST Prize Winners Village and to take part in the three-day conference and networking events at the 2004 IST Event in The Hague from 15-17 November.
Subsequently three Grand Prize Winners will be selected from among the 20 Winners, each of whom will receive €200,000 and the European IST Prize Trophy at an Awards Ceremony in Brussels in early 2005.
With a total prize of €700,000, ten years of growing success, international recognition and huge interest from investors, the European IST Prize is the most coveted of the prizes recognising major achievements in the IST world of today.
Skinkers has enjoyed rapid growth since the company began trading in 2002 and it is likely that this prize will prove a considerable boost to its program of expansion into new market territories worldwide.
